St. Catherine Hospital Announces Plans to Replace 64 Medical & Surgical Rooms

St. Catherine Hospital’s advancements in quality, technology and service line growth have led the organization to yet another significant milestone.  “It is with great pride in St. Catherine Hospital that I announce today the build out of 64 new patient rooms to replace the medical and surgical rooms in our north patient tower.  The larger patient rooms with new layout allow for increased support of both patient and family needs in a more family friendly environment,” said Scott Taylor, President and CEO.

Catholic Health Initiatives, St. Catherine Hospital’s non-profit parent organization, approved $9.9 million in capital to help build out these new rooms on the second and third floors of the south patient tower.  Construction on the 64 new rooms is expected to begin this summer and will take between nine and eleven months to complete.

St. Catherine Hospital now has the largest and most specialized Medical Staff in the region to help support communities and physicians from across the area.  The new rooms at SCH will give patients the opportunity to receive highly specialized care in a family friendly environment close to home… care that was previously only available by traveling long distances,” said Dr. James Bruno, Chief Medical Officer.  “The successful execution of our strategic plan to establish St. Catherine Hospital as the trusted medical referral center for southwest Kansas is the ultimate testament to the vision of the St. Catherine Hospital Board of Directors and the dedication and hard work of our Associates,” said Scott Taylor, President and CEO.

The expansion of St. Catherine Hospital is not possible without the generous donations made to the St. Catherine Hospital Development Foundation by individuals from Garden City and southwest Kansas.  “It is with an immense sense of gratitude that we thank these donors for their continued financial contributions of over $1 million dollars toward this effort.  We are truly appreciative of their confidence in the hospital to continue providing the high quality medical care they have come to expect from St. Catherine Hospital,” said Charles Claar, Chairperson St. Catherine Hospital Development Foundation.
